Meditations is a sequence of personal meditations elaborated by the Roman Emperor-philosopher Marcus Aurelius. He wrote this text to self educate himself and trusted the faculty of his own intellect. The text was written for the general population but it was so popular among the people that vast majority of them requested it. As such generations passed since then still continue to find profound philosophical teachings in it. The book has twelve parts, each part contains short thoughts and exercises on issues related to life in general like death, meaning of one's life, relationships with other persons, and finally structure of universe. Not just once does Marcus reiterate that the most important aspect is leading an honest life which includes eliminating yourself from worldly affairs and focusing on wisdom, justice as well as courage. He endorses his audience to possess inward tranquility that embraces whatever happens and largely focuses on things which can be influenced by them. Besides that fact Meditation is famous for representing Marcus as a philosopher king who live according to Stoic principles not less than for its wisdom . In contrast the work continues to enjoy popularity among both academic circles and ordinary readers constitution being a major source of reference materials developed within western philosophical traditions.
